DESERTS, SALT LAKES AND FLATS, FOSSILS:
UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

The images are a culmination of the artist’s residency at NYU Abu Dhabi, hosted by the art gallery. During 2022-23, De St. Croix has produced a series of new works, which developed from his study of environments in the UAE. In particular, he celebrates the less-familiar views, such as the natural and human-made salt lakes, and the diversity of rock and desert vistas. As part of his research, artist visited numerous archeological, cultural and heritage sites and interviewed NYUAD’s scientists, historians and artists, in addition to leaders in climate and environmental policy.
