In 2019, De St. Croix visited Utqiagvik, Alaska, to observe the dissolving permafrost as a result of climate change. Hollow Ground gives viewer a glimpse into the future. The top of the sculpture an austere icy plane while below we see gaping holes referencing the thawing soil.

Cold Front is made from made from 67,000 shredded 500ml plastic water bottles, creating the glimmering ice-like surface. Onto this façade a projected moving glacier engulfs the visitors’ visual field. An ecologically responsible sculpture – keeping plastic in circulation rather than in landfills.

Two Ends depicts the extreme ends of the United States/Mexico border, based on-site visits and first-hand photographic documentation. One border ends in a Texas salt-water estuary, emptying into the Gulf of Mexico while the other ends with the fence line descending into the Pacific Ocean in Tijuana.
